Pre or Post Cruise Hotel in Panama City

With the advent of the Panama City’s Amador cruise port, located right at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal you will be able to stay in Panama City before or after your cruise. Most of the Cruise lines offer expensive chain hotels as part of their pre/post cruise service but why not stay in the heart of Casco Viejo and experience the real Panama City in a boutique Cruise Hotel in Panama City?

The New Cruise Port

Upwards of 260 cruise ships a year cross the Panama Canal and the new terminal will be able to handle two 5000 passenger ships simultaneously which will greatly increase the number of cruise visitors to Panama City.

The port itself will also include restaurants and recreational centers with a long-term plan is to accommodate up to five mega cruise ships.

At the moment only small cruise ships tend to visit Panama City as the guests need to travel from the ship to Amador by tender which is a very time consuming and, sometimes, dangerous process.

In anticipation of the opening of the port, Panama is in talks with the Miami-based Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association, which gathers all leading cruise companies with Caribbean itineraries, and with global cruise line MSC, which has expressed interest in the new port.

The port of Colon, on the country’s Caribbean coast, operates as a home port, but Amador’s ideal location is expected to significantly strengthen Panama’s position as a cruise ship destination.
